The book In His Steps is copyright 1885 and 1897 by the Trustees of the Presbyterian Board of Publication and Sabbath School Work. It was originally published in 1885 and substantially revised in 1897.
All of James Russell Miller’s works are out of copyright, so you are free to copy and distribute them as you feel fit.
In the USA, all works published before 1923 are out of copyright. In Canada and the UK the rule is 50 years after the death of the author. Which means 1962 in the case of Dr. Miller. For works not yet out of copyright, these rules have been undergoing revision, so don’t apply these guidelines to other authors or countries.
